Ranging from ancient times to the early 20th century, they were historically used on horse harnesses, wagons, and livestock to warn others of approaching traffic or track flocks. This is an ultra-mini version with Etruscan Revival-type applied decoration around the equator. This is likely a Victorian miniature, made to be worn on a watch chain. Referencing a simpler, more agrarian time/life. 3/8" sphere but 3/4" tall including ring at top.
