An XL Georgian clasp (gem alone is 1/2" x 3/8") features a faceted amethyst-colored paste with foil backing, set in a true Pinchbeck collet mount. It's about 3/8" tall, oval, with a handmade tongue and box clasp. The underside is just so slightly curved to sit on a neck - such a great, thoughtful detail. Clasp is c. 1810, rope chain is gold fill c. 1900. Total necklace length 21".
