14k bezel made by us. Dark blue seal was pried from a gold cased wax seal fob, made around 1830. The intaglio is a "tassie", made of pressed glass, and invented by James Tassie: Scottish artist, died 1799, known for glass reproductions of classical gems. his vast collection of casts of ancient cameos, known as the "Tassie gems", were an indispensible resource for neoclassical designers. He was the master of 18th century mini portriature and gem reproduction. We didn't know that the dark blue glass was only a LAYER over lighter glass until our jeweler polished it!!! I love it like this: the blue remains in the indentations, making it way more legible. At right top corner, the tassie split (not all the way through), I assume when it was pulled out of the setting or put into the new setting, but it's not a structural problem. Stamp is 5/8" x 1/2". Ring size 5.5, resizable.
