Despite its fantastical name, Dragon's Breath is manmade, not exhaled from a serpent. It's a type of glass, manufactured in the early 1900s in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) and originally marketed as "Mexican glass opal". It does look a bit like Mexican fire opal, but it behaves differently. It has a fiery shifting appearance with a reddish pink iridescent body and flashes or electric blue and violet that move beneath the surface. Metallic compounds were added to molten glass to make these internal optical effects; the exact recipe isn't well documented.
