A plain-looking gold wedding band hides a TON of historical information inside: hallmarks tell us it was made in London in 1846 in 22k gold. That same year, surgeon Robert Liston performed the first operation under anaesthesia in Britain. The potato famine begins in Ireland, and the Koh-i-Noor diamond is surrendered to Queen Victoria after the East India Company's victory in Kashmir.
