Gold prospecting and mining has spurred exploration and settlement of Alaska since the arrival of Russian explorers, followed by waves of optimistic American prospectors since purchase of the terriroty from Russia in 1868. The Klondike Gold Rush began in 1896 when local miners found shiny gold deposits in the remote Yukon region of Alaska. 100,000 prospectors traveled over miserable terrain to seek their fortune in the freezing mountains. Miners sifted through tons of silty dirt by hand, searching for gold nuggets that broke out of quartz deposits deep in the earth. These studs are made with gold nuggets mined from those same eroded Klondike streams and riverbeds - the land hasn't given up all of it's gold quite yet. So although each nugget weighs about 2 grams, the shape and color will vary slightly.  Each one is unique, without any cutting, shaping, or treatment other than the 14k gold posts and backs we've added.

MATERIALS: Nuggets are 20-22k gold. Other minerals like silver and copper are naturally included.  Posts and backs are 14k gold.

SIZE: Gold nuggets vary in size and shape but average 3-5 mm in diameter.

Price is for one pair, matched by shape and size.
