All early 19th century mourning rings are a little freaky, but Catherine Packe's family got even kookier than usual when they commissioned her memorial jewels. Odd: the border components are fitted on rather than cast in place. Also weird: on the outside, where we usually see the standard black enamel "IN MEMORY OF", all of her details are there. "Cath: packe Ob: 5 Dec: 1819 AE 72".
