The five petals of a pansy resembles a human face, and in the mid-to-late summer it nods forward as if in deep concentration. Here, the flower is delicately engraved in citrine with no additional adornment. Pressed into hot wax to seal a letter, the pansy would have been a quiet message: "you're on my mind".
