A Georgian mourning ring with a now empty locket face (originally it would have contained plaited hair) and shoulders and hoop embellished with an enamel crosshatched design intended to evoke the scales of a snake - which, as we all know by now, is a symbol of endless love. The interior is engraved: “Eliz[abe]th Greenway dies 20 April 1811 Aged 24.”
