King Louis XVIII had neither Napoleon's charm nor his charisma. He fled - or got thrown out of - France multiple times. This teeny-weenie painting probably was based on a larger portrait, and multiple miniatures were likely handed out to his (sparse?) supporters. A ring with the same portrait is in the Alice and Louis Koch collection.
