WEIRD! it's not gold, but high-quality Pinchbeck. The swirls were a Georgian thing in jewelry - this was the tail end of Rococo, with lots of froof and abstract busy florals. On the front, a wide oval of turquoise is set. Was this always there, or added later to replace a panel of glass with hair underneath? It sure looks old to me, but I can't be sure. Size 6.5, c. 1800. Costume jewelry (but still super nice.) Looks to be cast instead of engraved, and was well worn. It's a testament to the quality of Pinchbeck that there is no fading of the metal at all. 1/8" wide half-round band.
