This diminutive diamond cluster ring dates from around 1800. The stones (rose cuts with a single table cut in the halo) are set in silver collets and backed with foil, which was the standard practice for setting transparent gems up until the early Victorian period. These stones have a slight gray tint, probably owing to the age of the settings, but still have a formidable sparkle. (Please note that it is best not to immerse foil-backed diamonds in water as it is possible for moisture to seep behind the stones, this means no wearing this beauty in the shower or the swimming pool).
