Look closely at this light blue (a rare color!) glass Tassie: the hearts are chained together. At a time when loved ones were apart for long periods of time, whether due to work or war or circumstance, this would have been a wearable reminder that distance need not diminish affection. Originally, the seal would have been pressed into hot wax to seal a letter to a faraway friend or lover.
