Cascading rose cut garnets make for an abundant, drippy look. These garnets hail from the region of Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic) where rich deposits of pyrope garnet were mined for centuries. By the 19th century, Bohemian garnets had become famous for their intense wine-red color and they were exported across Europe. Jewelers often set them in tightly packed arrangements like these, designed to catch candlelight and sparkle dramatically.
