Greek tragedy and comedy were two major types of plays in ancient Greek theater, and playwrights did not combine them in the same play. The reality is that we're always wearing two masks: happiness and despair exist simultaneously most of the time. This Victorian double-sided pendant must have belonged to a fan of classical theatre and / or ancient epic poetry.
