The 1870s saw a wild - dare I say "WACKY" - array of Egyptian Revival motifs sprayed onto every kind of product out there. Toilet paper? Throw a sphinx on the packaging to class it up a bit! Jewelry of the late 19th century was heavily decorated with scarabs, ankhs, serpents, and sarcophagus heads, and people couldn't get enough. Tortoiseshell and precious metal wire frame these ancient Egypt-inspired ovals.
