The Victorians loved bugs. Legendarily, they even made bejeweled leashes on which exotic LIVE insects paraded around on their clothing. A safety pin or brooch held the other end of the chain in place so the prized grasshopper or whatever didn't wander too far. This is my Holy Grail piece - if anyone ever finds a Victorian bug leash? Hit me up. Anyway, jeweled moth? Totally standard for 1880. This is a charming little guy with garnet eyes and a turquoise bod. If you couldn't have a live one as an accessory, you could settle for this.
