In ancient Roman religion, Virtus was the deity of military strength and bravery. Virtus, helmeted, in military dress, stands right, his left foot set on his helmet, holding a vertical spear reversed in his right hand and an upright parazonium in left.(A parazonium is a long triangular dagger, wide at the hilt end and coming to a point.) It’s a silver denarius minted in Rome under the rule of Trajan, 98-117 AD.
