Although this Wedgwood dish dates to the later 20th century, the amphora reaches back to the company’s 18th-century roots. Josiah Wedgwood was obsessed with the art and pottery of Greece and Rome, borrowing ancient vase forms and classical ornament for his earliest neoclassical wares. He even named his factory "Etruria". This amphora is a nod to the visual vocabulary Wedgwood established more than two centuries earlier. 3", marked "wedgwood" on bottom. In the vase, TINY Neoclassical figures cavort.
