THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE has become one of the most famous and mythologized events of the First World War. On the Western Front, warring English and German soldiers took matters into their own hands and agreed to stop fighting for one night. Famously they sang carols together, exchanged gifts, and played football in no-man's-land. The truce on the was one of the last examples of chivalry between enemies in warfare, and the date was December 7th, 1914. This locket memorializes that miraculous moment.
